Anubias and Shrimps

The Anubias are a highly prized plants in aquariums.

They are hardy, do not need much light, they hold any water, its roots are taken to logs and rocks ...

However Anubias plants are not appreciated by fans of freshwater invertebrates.

The anubias when broken release toxic substances to our prawns and we can have a little problem without realizing or knowing a priori which may be due.

It appears that the sap of the Anubias contains oxalic acid, which is what causes toxicity to our prawns, but it has to be in high quantities, since in large aquariums with a volume of water but Anubia and break the leaves, should not be a problem.

Still, Anubias are not recommended for shrimp tanks.
